Piggybacking onto Trish's post on photos...I have to admit that I've been thinking a lot lately about pictures too. I'm no photographer, by any means. I have a Nikon d40 that I still leave on auto. Sad, but true. But what I've noticed lately is that until recently, I hardly appear in my photographs.
I think that most of us scrap our families and/or those special events that happen in our lives, those places we go and the people we see, but we rarely show up in the pictures. If you are me, you don't like to have your picture taken. Not no way, not no how. You'd rather be sitting safely behind the camera where no one will see you except when you tell them to say cheese. But what happens years from now, when people look at your albums and don't see you...will they know who you are? That's why I'm starting to put myself more in the pictures I'm taking.
Here's how...
First, you can be in the shot without being in the shot. If you look at the reflection in her sunglasses...that's me!

i'm so guilty of doing this too. i need to step out more.
ReplyDeletegood thoughts, coleen...nice reminder...thanks for your post.
ReplyDeleteGreat reminder, Colleen! I've resorted to turning the camera around to snap a few of my dd with me in the last week when I had no one else around to snap the photo. Your hubs is a doll!! You are an adorable twosome...
ReplyDeleteThis is a great reminder for me. I'm always hiding. :O I'll make a goal to do one this week. ;) Thanks!
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas Colleen! Love the sunglasses pic
ReplyDeleteboy, did you hit the nail on the head! i hardly have any pics of me, or my husband for that matter. he usually doesn't like getting his pic taken or he makes a face or obscene gesture. i always remind him now that this is how his children and grandchildren will see him.
ReplyDeletehe usually lets me take it now!
i've just now started to scrap myself... I started about mid way into aug of this year and it's actually kinda hard to do lol but it's WAY fun!
ReplyDeleteGreat tips... I unfortunately love the camera and take every opportunity to get my photo snapped. Oh, I love the new look on the blog. I can't wait for November...
