The first idea:
This my Valentine tree. Yep, I have a Valentine tree. Two, actually. See, I'm the type of person who gets sad when all the Christmas decorations go away for another year. I was also a special education teacher for 13 years, so I love to decorate for the holidays. So 4-5 years ago, I decided I'd start decorating for Valentine's Day! My house has a lot of red in the decor, and I love the season, so why not? This smaller tree is in our foyer. It is pink and red, and the lights are pink and white. It makes me happy!
And the tree in our morning room is larger, and is mainly red. I've so enjoyed searching for ornaments for them, and every year I find something without any trouble. Have you seen all the cute stuff at Target this year for Valentine's? Man--totally worth the trip if you haven't made it there!
No, I don't have a holiday tree for every holiday. But I was thinking I'd find a huge branch and spray paint it white for Easter this year. (Still have some time on that one!)
And the second idea for the day is:
...from Julie Wright! She posted this over at SIS and I knew I had to use this. I asked her if I could post it here and she agreed (thanks, Julie!)
She used plain CD cases as storage for her clear stamps. In order to see the images clearly, she used black Staz-on on them! She is able to label and organize them nicely and inexpensively. She also asked that I mention that the slim cases do NOT work--just use the regular sized CD cases for this job.
So...what are your favorite organizational tips? Got any you want to share? Pass them on and we'll post them on the WIP Blog, or email them to me at Turay413@gmail.com.
Later!
I love the CD case idea - I've never seen that before!
ReplyDeleteJust did this last weekend. I ordered some stamps from Papertrey Ink and they came with their own CD case. Worked so well, I put all my other acrylic stamps there too. I haven't figured out quite how to label the cases. The Papertrey stamps came with labels, but I'll work on that later.
ReplyDeleteI love your Valentine's transitional tree!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be searching for CD's tomorrow and can just picture them lined up in a red basket! What an awesome idea!
ReplyDeleteI ADORE that Valentine's tree! It's my favorite "minor" holiday and this may be one of the cutest things I have ever seen!
ReplyDeleteLove the Valentine nDays Tree. Really Victorian looking
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tree! I keep my acrylic stamps in CD cases too. Works really well and they don't take up much space. I'm not sure I have a single great organization idea, but have been posting a few on my blog as I have time. My space is small so keeping down the stash and giving everything a "home" is important. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Trish!
ReplyDeleteI am one who HATES taking down the Christmas tree...everything looks so...blah without it! Soooooooo, I've decided to do a Valentines day tree also! I have over 50 vintage valentines I'm putting on the tree, along with strips of ripped pink material bows, doilies, and silver chenille pipe cleaners! I'll email you a picture when it's finished. Great idea!
Trish, that Valentine tree is the sweetest idea. And I can't wait to see the Easter tree! If you put Cadbury's mini-eggs anywhere near it, I'm coming over!
ReplyDeleteGreat storage solution for clear/unmounted stamps. Here's a link to my ribbon storage idea. I love that it colors my space, that the ribbon is easily accessible and that it remains crease-free. Of course, if you have cats, this is not a good idea! Unless of course you're going for a super distressed look with shredded ribbon! :) :)
