Empire Biscuits
3 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 egg
½ lb. butter
½ tsp. soda
½ tsp. cream of tartar
Cream butter and sugar, add egg, soda, cream of tartar, then add some of the flour, kneading well. Cut into small circles. Spread on raspberry jam. Cover with another circle. Bake at 350 for 10-15 min. While still hot, smooth on confectioner sugar and water frosting. Add ½ of a maraschino cherry.
An old fashioned recipe that still holds up. Enjoy!
