Back in 2008, when our daughter made her First Communion, I made her an "I Hope" carousel. You can view the project here. In about a month, it is our son Evan's turn to make his First Communion. I wanted to do a different take on it for him, and instead of a photo carousel, I made him an 8x8 mini book... I selected favorite photos of him and had them printed out in an 8x8 square format (I use Costco's photo developing and love them.) Every right side of the page has an "I Hope" statement, and every left side has an enlarged 8x8 photo...
Other than a few photos, I only used pictures with him alone. I mixed black and white with color, and I also mixed baby and toddler photos in with more recent pictures of him.
I love the way it has turned out. I've made SO many of these as gifts for others, and have taught this class more than any other in the past. It is just different when it is for someone so special and so personal. It has caused me to reflect on all that he has accomplished, all that he is, and all that his Dad and I hope for him...
ETA: The books are SOLD OUT. Thanks so much!
In the back of the book, I will be including a section for "I Hope" statements from the guests at his party. I love how that worked out with the carousel, and wanted to incorporate that idea into his book, too. I'll let you know how that goes...
I have a handful of these kits leftover from the last time I taught it, and if anyone is interested in purchasing one, please email me at Turay413@gmail.com and I'll send you a paypal invoice. The cost of the kit is $25 (plus shipping) and it includes an 8x8 linen album and the contents to create this book, along with an email containing pictures to complete the project (estimated time to complete is less than 2 hours.) You will need to print out 10-12 photos sized 8x8 (or elect to do whatever you want for your book!), and that is it! The kits are gender neutral, and are perfect for a birthday, First Communion, Confirmation, or just because. Please shoot me an email if you have any questions! Thanks so much.
