Buckeyes and Pinwheels.

I haven't posted a recipe in a while...

So I thought I'd share two today. This one is from my friend, Julie Krous. I made these over the holidays and froze several dozen (and since the hubs found the stash, that number is slowly diminishing...)

Sorry Michigan gals...

Ohio State Buckeyes

1 lb. butter 2 lbs. peanut butter

3 lb. confectioner sugar 1 lb. semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 bar paraffin 1 box toothpicks

Soften butter to room temp. Mix butter, peanut butter, sugar (mix well). Roll 1” balls and put on waxed paper-lined cookie sheets. Put a toothpick in the middle of each ball; freeze overnight. Melt chocolate in double boiler, cut paraffin and add to chocolate. Dip balls into melted chocolate to look like a Buckeye. Chill or freeze. Take toothpicks out and enjoy! Makes approx. 200 Buckeyes.

This one is a quickie stand-by that even my kids will eat. We're headed to a party tomorrow night and these will be in tow...
Cheese Pinwheels

1 pack Pillsbury Crescent rolls

Rondele cheese—Garlic & herb

Thinly sliced deli ham

Roll dough out, making 2 triangles into a rectangle, pressing seems to seal. Spread cheese out on dough, top with ham. Roll it up, and cut into slices. Bake at 375 for 12-15 minutes.

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Owls.

I know there are trends in scrapping and fashion and all. Last year we saw tons of owls and then deer on scrap paper and the like. I never really got into that kinda thing in my scrapbooking--it isn't my style.

My daughter fell in love with the owl pillow shown above from the Pottery Barn Kids catalog. She is nine and we're in the midst of doing her room, so I thought we could do a tween version and somehow work in those owls.

For her, it's all about the pillows.

So I headed to Etsy for some inspo...
Okay, really. I need another obsession right now. I can't help myself. Are these not the cutest things ever?
The simple applique on this one made me squeal. Love the eyelashes too.
I love how this one is made using recycled sweaters.
This one is my daughter's favorite.
And this one can be found here with many more adorable owl pillows. Such fun!!

Am I the only one who gets hung up on things like this? What are you into right now? Share your current obsession will you? I'd love to hear what you are into.

Have a great day...

A Valentine Tree

I started leaving up one tree after Christmas every year a while back. I decorate it with red and pink, and call it my Valentine Tree. I love it. It seriously makes me happy. And since the house looks so bare after all the decorations have gone, it is fun fussing over something.

I'm gearing up for a few projects, and I'll share when I'm a bit more into them. All of them involve sewing. I love this time of year in Ohio, when your kids are back in school and you can begin those indoor projects...

Here's to a productive day for all...

Sneak Peek

I've been working on the Work in Progress February kits, and thought I'd snap a photo to post this morning. I think I'm in love with the Heidi Swapp mirror album and I can't wait to use it...

I'm also doing a huge Valentine Project kit that is literally stuffed with the best of my favorite lines this year. I'll show a peek of that soon.

Have a fun day all!

This Weekend...

I had a wonderful time scrapping with a bunch of wonderful women on Saturday. I want to thank all 24 women for coming, and I hope to see you and more of your work again very soon!
Tami and her table was hard at work on this layout. The picture doesn't do it justice. The stickles and ink work on this baby in real life was amazing. She used the Leftovers kit we had on the Etsy site, so if you got one, go right ahead and lift it too!!
The next two layouts were made by my dear friend, Jen. She used the January WIP kit for her creations...
Her niece and nephew are too stinkin' cute! I love the way she uses patterned paper in this one...
Not only did she whip these up, but she also made the best batch of homemade potato soup that I have ever tasted. I promise, I'll post the recipe for that soon. Thanks, Jen!

The next monthly crop is on Saturday, February 7th from 10am-midnight and it is filling up quickly, so be sure to email me if you are interested in attending!! We will be doing a fun Valentine project as a break out class in that crop as well. I'll keep you posted!

And to answer a few emails I got from yesterday's post regarding the Debbie Hodge site, YES, I will be teaching again over at Get it Scrapped. Stay tuned!!

Have a super week!!

Telling Stories that Matter & A Give Away

Last year, I had the privilege of working with Debbie Hodge and teaching for her over at Get it Scrapped. I've been a fan of hers forever, and her hybrid style of scrapbooking is equally matched with her unique and distinctive ability to tell a story.Tomorrow is the first day o.f her Sense and Sensibility Symposium, and I'll be there with bells on. For those of you who love to scrapbook but struggle with combining the journaling with the photographs, or for those of you who simply want to get better at it, this class is for you. This three part series workshop also includes Janet Ohlson (covering the humor in your scrapping in a week called "Lighten Up") and Sharyn Tormanan (covering current events and trends in a week called "Get with the Times").

You can download a free trial session called "Getting Perspective" here. I love how she adds quotes and the checklist at the end (not to mention the beautiful layouts!). And the down loadable notebook is just the bee's knees. As always--she's filled with tons of inspiration...
Look for me over on the message boards and say hello!

So I'm doing a little give away out of excitement. And there just may be a few more of these over in class too...

Simply have your name on the email list over at Get it Scrapped, and you could win a January 2009 Work in Progress Project kit valued at $32. If you are already subscribe you have to do nothing! If you are not currently on the bandwagon, simply enter your email here. Easy peasy. I'll announce the winner on the blog here tomorrow.

See you there!

2009 Calendars

I know many of you are in the throws of creating calendar projects, so I thought I'd add a few of my favorites today. The above one can be found on this etsy shop and is silk screened. The CD case holder is the basis of a lot of cute calendars this year I see...

Colleen introduced me to this one from the KI Memories blog.

And this one from VintageGlamBlog is also too stinkin' cute.

This one has Laina's name all over it. I totally thought of her when I came upon it...

I'd love to see yours if you'd like to share as well! Email your pics to Trish at Turay413@gmail.com, and I'll post them here on the blog.

Enjoy your weekend!

Details

I love how amaryllis flowers and calla lily plants are filling my house with beauty today...You can find a bunch of these on clearance right now, and they only take about a week or so to force, so grab some while you can. They make great cut flowers too...
I picked up a few Valentine things for the crop tomorrow at Target in the Dollar Spot. I can't help myself in that area of the store. Total sucker for it! I love all the cupcake goodness...
As for the crop, it sold out a while ago (but I added 2 more for February and March if you are interested--check out the details here.). I'm looking very forward to spending the day with gal pals new and old. Nothing like spending a Saturday in January in Ohio with a bunch of fun, crafty women...

Have a wonderful weekend...
