Bookworm

When I'm not scrappin, my nose is usually stuck in a book.
I'm a history professor in my other life, and books are my true passion (outside of paper and glue that is...) I love to escape into stories, and sometimes I escape so much that I don't even hear people talking to me when I'm reading. When I travel, I usually have a few books with me, and then I find myself stopping in an old used bookstore looking for something fun to take home with me. And don't even get me started on Paperback Book Swap!

I have really ecclectic tastes too...I pretty much read everything. One of my favorite books ever is Isabel Allende's The House of the Spirits. Audrey Niffenegger's The Time Traveller's Wife is another fave, and I can't wait for the movie. I love Alice Sebold's The Lovely Bones, and The Namesake by Jhumpha Lahiri is a new favorite. It really is an amazing book if you haven't read it. I was completely sucked in by the Twilight Series (even though I HATED Breaking Dawn), and right now I'm immersing myself in the Sookie Stackhouse Southern Vampire Series by Charlaine Harris. I'm really sad that I'm on the last one, and I hope she writes more! In between Sookie's happenings, I'm fitting in a chapter or two of Betty Friedan's The Feminine Mystique. Yeah, Betty Friedan is a little heavy, and I read her in really small doses...but I still make time for silly fluff like the occasional Jude Devereaux.

What are you reading these days and what is your favorite book?
Why don't you celebrate that book and make a page about it!

Twilight series all the way. I am on my 2nd reread of these books. I am in charge of a book club at work based on this series. Actually, I am in charge of the goodie bags and all the prizes that I give out based on each book. Way too much fun.

Great idea to make a page about it. One of my recent faves is The Thirteenth Tale. There's a paragraph in the book that struck me as a pitch for journaling to us scrappers. Our stories SHOULD be told - in pictures and in words. Loved Time Traveller's Wife, The Art of Mending, and A Year by the Sea.

Hi Colleen, I'm a book lover, too. As a matter of fact, I maintain a book blog. I just finished a debut called Brother by James Fredericks that was OUT OF THIS WORLD. Anyone who liked early John Grisham novels would probably love this book. Now I'm in the midst of the third John Ceepak novel, Tilt-A-Whirl (love, love, love Chris Grabenstein), Harvest by Tess Garitsen, and The Vig by John Lescroart. While I haven't done a page on a book I like, I have created a mini album of the authors I've gone to see in person. It's a work in progress!

A great site you can check out for used books is www.betterworld.com. They have an excellent selection of used books, shipping is free, and donations are made from sale profits to reading charities across the world.

Hey, another big time reader here! I just finished The Shack last night. It was different than I expected, but very good. I plan to start the last Twilight book next. Some of my recent favs are:
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, Best Friends, Same Kind of Different as Me, and The Road. I remember the days when I read every book Jude Devereaux wrote......oh, the fun of romance novels!!!
