Project Life Week 7

Week 7 for my Project Life was a birthday week for our youngest...
(Protector Designs E & F)
Here is a close-up of the left page...
I wanted to focus a whole week on just him.  I took a few pictures of him in his kindergarten classroom.  One with his favorite things--my iPhone, playing basketball, going to a Cavs Game, 100 days of school, his siblings, the dog--usual stuff.  I also took a few tags off his clothing and saved them as memorabilia (the Superman tag was one.)  I knew I'd score cool things during his birthday week...
I used a few printables, a few elements from the BH kit, October Afternoon alphas, and stamps this week.  And since it was also Valentine's week, and our daughter's yearly performance at a Cav's halftime show, I had to include that.  So...

I used a 6x12 page protector and added all those extra pics.  Valentine's Day, his birthday afternoon lunch with me at Chuck E. Cheese...
And on the flip side...my daughter's performance at halftime, along with a collage of pics from the Cavs game (we're big fans in our house--basketball rules my life.  Seriously.)
I'm finding that I like the challenge of the weekly theme.  It isn't getting old yet.  In fact, just the opposite!  I look forward to doing more, and have even added a few ideas to my original list.  How are you doing so far??

Enjoy your day!!

Project Life 6

Playing a little catch up with my PL today...
Week 6--Designs C & B
Week 6 came together easily.  It was my daughter's suggestion to document "What we do for love" around the house, and for one another this week.  Like in weeks prior, I used die cuts, a few printed digi elements, and a bunch of photos.  Love how it turned out.

I've received so much wonderful feedback regarding the March Add-on Kit that sold out so quickly.  I know a bunch of you Project Lifers are out there, and don't have the time or energy to do the digi elements or the cutting of the die cuts.  I promise, I'm doing my best to incorporate those suggestions into upcoming kits.  (wink).

Enjoy your day!

Sweet hearts

For your sweethearts....
While I know we are past Valentine's Day, I couldn't resist sharing a treat I made that could be made for a sweet heart any time of the year.

I found these heart shaped tins at Papertrey Ink and decided to fill them,
I sprayed them with Pam first and then filled just over half way with cake mix and baked for about 15 minutes, once cooled I frosted and put in bags.

the tins cleaned up nicely afterwards and are ready to be filled again!

Paper Flower Tutorial

I am lovin' paper flowers these days. I make them all the time from book paper, and tissue and pattern paper. There are tons of images to be found on pinterest. Enough to keep one making flowers for a very long time.

So it's no wonder a couple of cardstock flowers found their way on one of the layouts for the February gallery. Loved how they turned out, and wanted to share a little tutorial with you.

1. gather supplies.
cardstock~preferably double sided
~plus a solid piece for the base
circle punch
hot glue
button

2. punch double sided cardstock. The above flowers were made with four circles.
Punch an additional solid circle for the base of the flower.

3. Fold circle in a cone shape with a single point. Smash flat. Repeat with remaining circles.

4. Attach folded circles to the base with points all facing the center. Don't worry about them being perfect in appearance, step 5 covers that.

5. Hot glue button to center of the points. As this is adhered it will help to flatten the 'petals' of the flower, as well as cover all manner of imperfect petals.

6. Now you have a half flower as a ready made border embellishment for the edge of paper or photo. Or complete the circle and fill your page with whole flowers.

enjoy your day!

Happy Birthday, Mom.

My mom is 70 years young today. Our youngest son Griffin drew her a picture in celebration, so she could have some new refrigerator art. This is what he came up with at school.

His teacher asked him what she was holding, and held her breath, I am sure.

You see, my mom is on oxygen, and walks around with a tank a lot.  Next to her would be my dad (with his walker) and Griffin.

Get your mind outta the gutter.  What did you think it was??

I'm saving this photo for the scrapbook.  My mom got a huge laugh out of the picture, and I knew she would.

Happy Birthday, Mom.  If I grow to be half the parent you are, I'll be fortunate.  Love every little morsel of you.

Project Life Organization

Wanted to share how I organize my PL supplies. Shockingly surprised to admit--it is all contained in one spot...

I got this vintage looking wire caddy at Marshall's a few weeks back.  Perfect size for the stuff I want to organize...
This bin was a Dollar Spot find at Target.  Love that it separates a few of my favorite things.  Here aer some of the contents:
Small alphas/word stickers, flair buttons, Martha Stewart tabs and labels, and file folder stickers.
I love that the blue bin lifts off the top easily, revealing other cards below.  Looks like a mess, eh?  I know where it all is.  Promise!
My friend Amy was smart enough to introduce this idea.  Using the protectors as holders for some of the die cuts I want to use.  Genius!
Along side of the caddy are a TON (about 2" thick) of printed PL notecards and quotes, found all over the web.  Addictive.
And one other thing I'd like to share...
One of the things I love to add to my PL albums are extra sleeves.  For example, the above photo collage was taken from the my365 app, and I formatted it to a 6 x 12 and had it printed.  I had one spot left, so I included a photo of myself in the last block (since I did take all of those shots), and simply slid it into the sleeve.  It is actually housed at the front of my PL album, right behind my title page (I copied CZ's free download and printed it out.  You can find it here.)

I was all jazzed up about putting little number stickers on each and every square, knowing I had all the ones that come with PL.  Bummed to discover they only go from 1-10.  Epic fail.  So here and there, I used days of the week.  Next month when I go to format these, I'll just add the date electronically.

Please let me know if you have any questions, or want to share how you organize your own PL!
Enjoy your day!
