Strawberry Season

Ahhhh...yes.

It's that time of year. :)
I know, I've blogged about it before. But it bears repeating. Go pick some strawberries. Why? Let's see...

1. It's fun. Messy, but fun. (Wear old shoes and bring sunscreen).
2. This year's pickings are amazing. Best in the last 5 years in my humble opinion.
3. Cute kid photo op...

4. You get to snack while you pick--part of the fun.
5. We always go to Fitch's Farm Market in Avon, Ohio and meet up with the owner--Mrs. Fitch--who also happens to be my former home ec teacher from high school. That would also be the same lady who taught me how to sew for the first time (and I thank her all the time for that.)
6. Any excuse to ride a hayride is a good time.
7. It is a fun tradition that we all enjoy. And my neighbors don't mind the leftovers!

Now, before you go asking what I plan on doing with all those berries, here is my answer. My personal favorite is slicing them on top of homemade waffles and adding cool whip...but to each his own...

Makes me want to skip.
I love summer.
:) Peace.

Mmmmmm. The strawberries are just starting to come on here. My in-laws (next door) have them so the kids always have red lips!

I'm laughing because strawberry season is pretty much over down here. Our crop comes in early in the spring. It is so darn hot down here, I do envy the cool Ohio summers:-) At least they were cool to a native Texan!!!
