I normally don't decorate much in the summertime. I go full throttle in the fall and don't let up until after Easter, leaving the house to be fully wrecked by the little people who take over the house when our kids are home all summer...
But I got a wild hair and thought I'd bring some beach stuff out and play. I decorated my fireplace with a few shells and had fun with it. I got most the stuff from Michael's--but wanted to also share a favorite tip...
Epson salts. Yep. Not only is it great for your gardening and for soaking your toes after a long day...It is also pretty when placed in a glass container. Simply add shells.
I understand it can also be colored quite easily using food coloring too. Cool!!

Great idea, I have that kind of decor all year round and mix my holidays in since I live in south Florida. I'm also fortunate enough to have found most of my elements on our shores. Love looking around the house and being able to remember times and places while glancing at one of those elements! Love your blog and all you share, Janet
great idea Trish - kitty litter works well too and it absorbs odors :)
how beautiful and summery! reminds me of an airy beach cottage :-)
WOW! Your home always looks like it's right out of a catalog!! BEAUTIFUL!!
Love it! Hopefully I'll bring some of the beach home from our upcoming trip to decorate with!
