I love how Maya Road embosses their chipboard coasters, but always find myself frustrated when it comes to altering them. I never want to cover up all the tiny details, and I am not a huge fan of painting all the time either...
So here is what I created...

I took the embossed cover and placed a lightweight sheet of printer paper over the design. I lightly ran my pencil across it, leaving an imprint of the image...

Then I cut the image out, and traced that image onto the back of patterned paper I wanted to use to showcase the inside of the apple...

Once I got the main shape traced and cut, I then continued on and cut the smaller pieces out and traced the area with a brown marker. I then went back with a mustard colored marker and highlighted the area...

I covered the rest of the plain pieces with patterned paper, making sure to ink the edges to cover up any open chipboard areas. I took the liberty to paint each of the stems, and then cut leaves out to add to the tops.

Then I took a distressing ink pad to the whole thing...

And there you have it! That green apple is from Making Memories packaging (alpha stickers were inside). I like it so much that I plan on framing it and not using it as a mini...
